The Bridgeton
Library's TLC, or Teen Library Council, is open
to teens 12 to 19 who are interested in making a
difference at the Library. The goal of the TLC
is to promote library services to teens and the
community, plan programs at the library, help
purchase books for the Young Adult Section --
and have a good time doing it!
Since its start in
April of 2005, the TLC has helped plan several
programs for teens, such as DDR events, movie
nights, and book discussions. They also
planned and hosted a "Library Survivor Lock-In"
for younger kids which included a scavenger
hunt, relay races and Food Fear Factor!
The TLC has planned and built floats in two
holiday parades and designed its own T-shirts!
Being a TLC member
is not all work! They get to attended fun workshops
such as painting, creative writing and even
fencing. Sometimes they play board and
video games, and once a year they take a trip to
buy books for the library. In December of
2006 they held their first sleep-over in the
library!
Teens 12-19
interested in joining the TLC can call the
library at 451-2620, or just come to a meeting.
Meetings are held every other Wednesday from 6 -
8 pm. New members are welcome!
