Seeking to add more
computers to the Youth section of the library,
the Friends of the Bridgeton Library solicited
the community for funds, hoping to raise
$10,000.
With a big boost
from Realtor Robert Thompson, who pledged to
match the first $5,000, the community fund drive
reached just over $11,900 with the realtor's
generous $5,000 donation. In all, 36
businesses and individuals gave donations to the
Friends.
The money collected,
from the middle of April to the end of
September, is being used by the Friends to
purchase new computers, appropriate software for
them, new monitors and new furniture to house
the new equipment. The Library staff and the
Board of Trustees are arranging to set up a
space for the new equipment. As soon as they are
ready, the equipment will be purchased.
The Friends, the
Library Staff and the Teen Library Council thank
all those who generously contributed to the fund
drive. |
